President Stresses the Need to Put Pressure on All Countries to Implement UNSC Anti-Terrorism Resolutions
DAMASCUS, (ST)_ President Bashar Al-Assad received here today the Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General to Syria Staffan de Mistura and members of the accompanying delegation.
Discussions dealt with the new details in De Mistura’s plan to freeze fighting in the city of Aleppo in positive and constructive atmosphere.
President Al-Assad renewed Syria’ keenness on supporting any initiatives or ideas that help to solve the ongoing crisis and preserve civilians’ lives and state establishments.
President also stressed the need to put pressure on all countries to implement UN Security Council resolutions No. 2170 and 2178 to stop funding of terrorists and their flow to Syria.
For his part, De Mistura hopes that all parties cooperate in supporting his proposal to restore security to Aleppo city to be the starting point for the restoration of security and stability to all Syria.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Premier and Foreign and expatriates minister Walid al-Moallem, Presidential Political and Media Advisor Dr. Bouthaina Shaaban, Dr. Faisal al-Miqdad, Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister and Ahmed Arnous Advisor to the Minister.
President Al-Assad had underscored during the meeting with De Mistura on 10/11/2014 the importance of Aleppo and the keenness of the State on the safety of civilians in every Syrian spot, considering De Mistura’s initiative as worthy of study and try to work on as to reach its objectives for the restoration of security to Aleppo.
H.E. President Al-Assad and Mr. De Mistura agreed on the importance of implementing UN Security Council resolutions numbered 2170 and 2178 and on the rallying of international efforts for the combating of terrorism in Syria and in the region threatening the entire world.
De Mistura, at the end of the meeting, expressed his determination to pursue his mission with all sides as to alleviate difficulties reaching to stability and peace in Syria.
