President Rouhani, Iraqi PM Stress Fighting Terrorism

President Hassan Rouhani in a telephone conversation with Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri Al-Maliki discussed the latest developments in Iran as well as the way for uprooting terrorism, IRNA reported.

During the telephone conversation on Thursday, President Rouhani pointed to the necessity for fighting terrorism and violence and condemned the recent crimes by terrorists in killing the innocent people of Iraq.

The Iranian president said that the Iranian nation and government always support the Iraqi nation and government, adding, ˈThe government of the Islamic Republic of Iran will do their utmost efforts in international and regional fields to confront terrorism and it will not allow the supporters of terrorists to disrupt security and stability of Iraq through exporting terrorism to Iraq.ˈ

The Iraqi prime minister, for his part, thanked Iran for its supports from Iraqi nation in international and regional scenes, and briefed President Rouhani on the latest developments in northern Iraq and the success of the Iraqi government in suppressing the terrorists.

Iran to support Iraq in confrontation with terrorism mightily, says Abdollahian

We will mightily support Iraq in is confrontation with terrorism, Iranian deputy foreign minister for Arab and African affairs said Wednesday night, referring to emerged emergency status in that county.

 “We are sure that the Iraqi armed forces will powerfully and effectively crash the terrorist and Takfiri forces,” Hossein Amir-Abdollahian told IRNA.

He meanwhile strongly condemned the occupation of the Turkish consulate office in Mosul, Iraq and the kidnapping of the head consul and its diplomatic staffs by the ISIS terrorists.

The terrorist ISIS forces, also known as the ISIL, seized the Turkish consulate in the Iraqi city of Mosul and kidnapped the head of the diplomatic mission along with 24 staff members as residents fled the city in their thousands on Wednesday.

According to the media reports, 40 Turkish security forces were guarding their country’s consular office, but the ISIL terrorists attacked the building using a 900 strong force and occupied it.

The Iraqi Prime Minister declared state of full emergency in Iraq on Tuesday following the full downfall of Ninawa province and the occupation of Tikrit and some other regions by the ISIL terrorists.

The Iraqi Parliament, too, is scheduled to hold an extraordinary session today, Thursday, to survey the country’s current alarming status.

The Iraqi anti-terrorism organization has announced that the Iraqi armed forces have killed the ISIL terrorists in Tikrit and taken control of its capital city Salaheddin, once again.

Recent advancements of the Al Qaeda offspring, ISIL, in the northern Iraq also made the Iraqi political parties’ leaders and factions to convene an emergency meeting to survey the situation on Wednesday.

Lebanon’s Al Manar TV reported that Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has appointed the Iraqi Prime Minister General Abu al-Walid as the commander of the operations in the West of Mosul.

In a spectacular blow to Iraqˈs Shi’a-led government on Tuesday, ISIS-led terrorists seized Mosul, its surrounding region of Nineveh and areas of Kirkuk and Salaheddin province. The assault by the group formerly known as al-Qaida in Iraq saw black banner-waving insurgents raid government buildings, push out security forces and capture military vehicles as residents fled from Iraqˈs second-largest city.

On Wednesday security officials said that the ISIS fighters had also taken control of the Iraqi city of Tikrit .
