TEHRAN, Jul.20, (ST)- Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi has reiterated the need to respect Syria’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, referring to Tehran’s continuous cooperation with Syria and the development of bilateral relations between the two friendly countries in various fields.
Raisi”s remarks were made during his meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faisal Al-Miqdad on Wednesday.
He indicated that the Iranian side stressed during the meeting of the heads of the guarantor states of the Astana process in Tehran yesterday the need to refrain from any measures that affect the sovereignty of Syria, which will negatively affect all concerned countries, and that the solution to any problems must be through dialogue and respect for Syrian sovereignty.
The Iranian president also pointing out that the Iranian side affirmed the need for the US forces, which illegally exist in Syria to leave, to stop looting Syrian resources, and to lift unilateral coercive measures against the Syrian people.
For his part, Al-Miqdad stressed Syria’s satisfaction with the results of the tripartite summit of the heads of the guarantor states of the Astana process, and showed appreciation for the clear and principled positions taken by Iran towards Syria, especially those expressed during the summit, stressing that cooperation and coordination between the two countries always leads to positive results.
The minister talked about the latest developments in Syria, including the situation in northern side and aspects related to the humanitarian situation.
He stressed Syria’s determination to continue strengthening its relations with Iran in various fields and increasing joint coordination at various levels.
In another meeting with Speaker of Iranian Shura Council, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Al-Miqdad spoke about the importance of the parliaments’ role in defending the rights of peoples suffering from occupation, terrorism and embargo, reviewing the latest field and political developments in Syria.
The meeting dealt with the international and regional developments and the means of promoting bilateral cooperation to make the plans aiming at dividing the region a failure.
The two sides underlined the importance of enhancing parliamentary cooperation and coordination between the two countries, and the importance of promoting bilateral relations in all domains, especially the economic and commercial ones.
