President Castro Affirms Cuba’s Support for Syrian People in Confrontation Zionist-Imperialist Schemes
HAVANA, (ST)-President Raul Castro of Cuba has reiterated the support of Cuba and the entire Organization of Solidarity of the Peoples of Africa, Asia and Latin America (OSPAAAL) for the Syrian and Palestinian people in the confrontation of the imperial Zionist schemes. He stressed that over the past fifty years, the organization has backed all liberation movements in the three continents.
Castro’s remarks were made in a congratulation cable on the 50th foundation anniversary of OSPAAAL. The cable, which was read by head of the International Affairs Department at Central Committee of the Communist Party Jose Ramon Balaguer Cabrera, urged the organization to continue its struggle and to keep loyal to the ideas and principles on which it was based.
On her part, Lourdes Cervantes, the General Secretary of OSPAAAL affirmed the organization’s solidarity with the struggle of the peoples of Asia, Africa and Latin America and its rejection of all forms of aggression and foreign intervention in countries’ affairs.
She reiterated ASPAAAL’s solidarity with and support for Syria in the confrontation of the Imperialist Zionist aggression which has been targeting Syria over the past five years.
In a statement to SANA correspondent in Cuba, Cervantes said “since the beginning of the aggression on Syria, OSPAAAL has asserted its solidarity with the Syrian people who are defending their sovereignty, dignity, independence and territorial integrity.”
She condemned the terrorist aggression targeting Syria and the crimes being committed by the terrorist organizations against the Syrian people, stressing that OSPAAAL has realized how huge the misleading media war on Syria was.
The regional leadership of the Baath Arab Socialist Party has sent a congratulation cable to OSPAAAL on its foundation anniversary, stressing that the Baath Party has been a big supporter of national liberation movements and a staunch defender of people’s right to win independence and maintain their sovereignty.
