On November 16, President Bashar Al-Assad received a number of condolence letters on the death of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Walid Al-Moallem.
Lebanese President General Michel Aoun expressed his condolences on the death of al-Moallem and expressed his hope for the return of peace to all parts of Syria.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas also expressed his condolences on the death of al-Moallem who devoted most of his life to the service of his homeland and his people and in supporting the causes of our nation, foremost of which is the Palestinian cause.
“In the name of the State of Palestine and its people, and on my own behalf, we present to your Excellency and through you the family of the late gracious and the brotherly government and people of Syria,” Abbas said in his cable.
The Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri said in his cable : “I offer to you, the brotherly Syrian Arab people, and the family of the great late, my deepest condolences, asking God Almighty to inspire you and his family with patience and solace.”
