President Assad receives congratulations from Sultan of Brunei Darussalam on winning presidential elections

DAMASCUS, (ST)_ On the occasion of winning the presidential elections President Bashar al-Assad received yesterday a cable of congratulations from the Sultan of Brunei Darussalam Hassanal Bolkiah in which he expressed best wishes for Syria’s continued progress, looking forward to work with President Assad to develop bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

More congratulations from Lebanese and Palestinian parties, bodies and personalities

President al-Assad also received more cables of congratulations from Lebanese and Palestinian parties, bodies and personalities on the occasion of winning the presidential elections in Syria.

The cables said that the Syrians intensive turnout at the voting ballots was the best proof that all conspiracies targeted the unity of the Syrians were foiled, pointing out that the Syrian people have expressed, through these elections, commitment to their wise leadership.

The cables stressed that the Syrian people maintained national choices and rejection of all forms of terrorism, noting the Syria’s principled positions for the nation’s historical battle against the armed terrorist groups.

The cables were from former Lebanese Premier Dr. Salim Hoss, head of the PLO Political Department Farouk Kaddoumi, member of the Baath Party national leadership Assem Kanso, Secretary General of the Movement of the nation in Lebanon, Sheikh Nasser al-Jabri, follow-up committee of the Lebanese national parties, forces and personalities, head of the Lebanese Union Party Abdul Rahim Murad, head of the Lebanese Arab Unification Party Wiam Wahhab, head of the Naserite organization in Lebanon Samir Sharkas, head of the Lebanese People’s Movement Najah Wakim and the head of Lebanon’s green for the defense of human rights and the nature Alaa Jallous.
