President Assad: Elections High turnout , Strong Message to the West

DAMASCUS,(ST)_ President Bashar al- Assad met today (Thursday) Iranian parliamentary delegation on a visit to Syria to keep up with the presidential election headed by Alaeddin Boroujerdi, chairman of the National Security and Foreign Policy committee at the Iranian Shura Council.

Boroujerdi expressed happiness, together with the accompanying delegation for visiting Syria, and stressed that, by participating  in the Presidential elections, the Syrian people give a bright picture revealing their love and loyalty to their homeland and state, despite the difficult overwhelming conditions.

For his part, President al-Assad stressed that the high turnout in the elections constitutes a strong message to the West and the countries involved in the war on Syria that the Syrian people, are determined to maintain self-determination, and that hey are always looking forward to the future.

President Assad considered that victories achieved by the Syrian people and successes scored by Iran on many levels, especially the Iranian nuclear file as well as positive changes in several countries of the region, “ all make us more confident concerning the future of peoples of the region.”

The president expressed appreciation for Iran firm stand in support of  Syria in the face of the terrorist war, which Syria has been experiencing since more than three years.

Earlier in the day, Walid al-Moallem, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates received Boroujerdi and members of the accompanying delegation.
