President Al-Sharaa’s visit to Riyadh receives wide attention by Saudi media

The visit of President Ahmad Al-Sharaa to Riyadh received wide media attention, as it topped the headlines of most Saudi newspapers.

A number of Saudi articles and editorials stressed the importance of this visit and the Saudi desire to support Syria, its stability and development.

Under the title “Stable Syria” “Al-Riyadh” newspaper said in its editorial today, “Since the first day of the Syrian revolution in 2011, the Kingdom has adhered to fixed principles, represented in its support for the right of the Syrian people to self-determination, and ensuring the security of Syria and the unity of its territories.

” It added that “the Kingdom is one of the first countries to officially recognize the success of the Syrian revolution, as it took the initiative to send its official delegations to strengthen the position of the Syrian government and support the stability of Syria. It also received official delegations, expressing official recognition of the new government in the Syrian state.

” The newspaper added: “The importance of this visit comes from coordination on files and topics that serve the common interests of the two brotherly countries, especially in important issues including combating terrorism and extremism, and enhancing the state of security, peace and regional and international stability.

” Al-Jazeera newspaper titled its front page “A Saudi-Syrian embrace in Riyadh,” while Saudi writer Khalid bin Hamad Al-Malik said in an article titled “Syria on the brink of glory”: “No people have suffered as much as the brotherly Syrian people from tragedies, oppression, injustice, and deprivation.

” The writer added “the policies adopted by the new Syrian administration, including opening the way for distinguished relations with sister Arab countries, then dissolving all blocs, parties and military organizations, and incorporating them into the new national army, and then focusing on building Syria,” gives hope for the best.

” In turn, Al-Madina newspaper indicated that this visit expresses the mutual desire between Syria and Saudi Arabia to strengthen relations and consolidate ties in light of the intensive Saudi efforts to support Syria in various fields and regional and international forums.

The newspaper “Asharq Al-Awsat” shed light on the Saudi support for Syria, and quoted a Saudi official as saying: “Saudi Arabia stood on fixed principles, represented in the importance of ensuring Syria’s security and the unity and integrity of its territories away from foreign interventions and external influences, believing that Syria belongs to the Syrians, and they have the right to manage their affairs and determine their fate.”
