President Al-Sharaa to “New York Times”: Any chaos in Syria will harm the entire world

President Ahmed Al-Sharaa said in a statement to the “New York Times” that any chaos in Syria will harm the entire world, not just neighboring countries.

He also said:

– Regional and European countries are concerned about the stability of the new Syria after the fall of the Assad regime.

– We have informed all parties that the military presence in Syria should comply with our laws.

– Any foreign presence in Syria should not pose a threat to other countries through our territory.

– We have not yet received offers from countries to replace the weapons in Syria, which are mostly Russian-made.

– We have had food and energy agreements with Russia for years and these Syrian interests must be taken into account.

– We call on Washington to lift the sanctions on Syria, which were imposed in response to the crimes of the former regime.

– Some US conditions for lifting sanctions need to be discussed or amended.

– The Syrian government is committed to maintaining peace in the Syrian Coast region, and we will hold those responsible for the violence accountable.

– A few months are not enough to build an army for a country the size of Syria.
