President al-Sharaa Receives Head of Iraqi Intelligence Service, Emphasizes Joint Cooperation for Regional Security

The President of the Syrian Arab Republic, Mr. Ahmed Al-Sharaa, met with a delegation from Iraq led by Mr. Hamid Al-Shatri, the head of the Iraqi intelligence service. During their meeting at the People’s Palace today, both parties emphasized Iraq’s support for Syria’s stability and territorial integrity.

They discussed the importance of joint cooperation to achieve security and stability in the region. They also highlighted the need to encourage investments between the two countries and to finalize trade agreements in the oil and grain sectors.
They agreed to form joint committees to supervise the implementation of these agreements and to develop a working mechanism for operating the Al-Tanf-Al-Walid border crossing between Syria and Iraq.
Mr. Al-Shatri conveyed a confirmation letter from the head of the Iraqi government, Mr. Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, inviting President Al-Sharaa to attend the forthcoming Arab summit, scheduled to be held in Baghdad on the seventeenth of next month.
