President Al-Sharaa offers condolences to the Roman Catholic community on the passing away of Pope Francis

President Ahmad Al-Sharaa extended his condolences to the Roman Catholic Community on the passing away of Pope Francis.

In a letter of condolences, President Al-Sharaa said “throughout the past years, Pope Francis supported the Syrian people within their most difficult circumstances and he constantly spoke up against the violence and injustice that targeted the Syrian people”.

He added that the Pope’s calls “have transcended political limits and his legacy of moral courage and solidarity will continue to be alive in the hearts of many people in our homeland”.
