President Al-Sharaa meets with delegations of the Syrian Negotiation Commission and National Coalition

President Ahmad Al-Sharaa on Tuesday received Head of the Syrian Negotiation Commission (SNC) Bader Jamous, Head of the National Coalition for the Revolution Forces and Opposition Hadi Al-Bahra and delegations representing the two institutions.

The meeting was held at the People’s Palace in Damascus.

The two delegations congratulated President Al-Sharaa on assuming Syria’s Presidency, stressing that the Syrians, as people, leadership and institutions, should be united in the face of all challenges in this stage of Syria’s history.

The Presidency of the Syrian Arab Republic said in a statement that in consistent with the declaration of the victory of the Syrian Revolution which announced the dissolution of all the institutions established under the Revolution and the integration of them into the state’s institutions, the two delegations handed over all the files of the Syrian Negotiation Commission and the National Coaltion to the Syrian state so as to continue the work that serves the interest of the Syrian people and serves building the state under the leadership of the President of the Republic.

The statement said that President Al-Sharaa hailed the struggle of workers in these institutions against the defunct regime and praised their steadfast national stances at the international political arena. He also hailed their efforts to expose the crimes and atrocities of the former regime and their contribution to the steadfastness of the Syrian people over the past 14 years which led to the victory of the Revolution.

President Al-Sharaa stressed the need to benefit from the political, administrative and technical competencies in the Negotiation Commission and the National Coalition in the structure of the new state.

For their part, the delegations confirmed their support for the leadership of President Al-Sharaa in facing the current challenges reuniting the country, attaining security and stability and completing the formation of the Syrian Army based on national principles through integrating all the military factions into the Defence Ministry and restricting the arms to the state.

The presidency’s statement indicated the government’s commitment to implementing a roadmap that includes forming a transitional government, drafting a new constitution, and holding free and fair elections, in addition to completing the formation of the Syrian army as a national army and integrating all military factions under the authority of the state.
