President Al-Assad Urges UN to Mobilize Efforts in Support for Palmyra Restoration

DAMASCUS, (ST)-President Bashar Al-Assad urged the UN Chief Ban Ki moon to unify the efforts of the United Nations and its affiliated organizations and agencies as to provide support for the Syrian government in the restoration of the historical city of Palmyra, the icon of civilization classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

In a letter addressing the UN Chief, President Al-Assad highly appreciated Ki moon’s welcoming of recapturing Palmyra from Deash by the Syrian Arab Army and Syria’s allies.

  “This might be the most suitable moment to speed up the collective war on terrorism,” President Al-Assad clarified, reiterating Syria’s readiness to cooperate with all sincere efforts aiming to combat terrorism.
