President Al-Assad to Damascus Dignitaries: The Power of a Country Stems from the Strength of its People

DAMASCUS- President Bashar Al-Assad has stressed that “Damascus, the city which steadfastly faced invaders throughout history, has been able thanks to the awareness of its people to withstand the terrorist aggression Syria is undergoing.”

President Al-Assad was speaking during a meeting with a number of Damascus dignitaries, who contributed to national reconciliation efforts in several areas.

His Excellency President Al-Assad asserted the historical and cultural role Damascus has played not only for Syria but for the entire Arab and Islamic worlds.

“The power of a country stems from the strength of its people, the president said, affirming that thanks to the high national spirit of the Syrian people, Syria has managed to withstand the aggression and foil the schemes which were plotted abroad.

Damascus dignitaries, for their part, talked about the importance of the ongoing national reconciliation process being carried out in different Syrian areas, pointing out that reconciliation is the safe way for all misled citizens to return to live under the homeland’s umbrella, particularly after public awareness about the nature of the ongoing events in Syria has grown.

They voiced support for the Syrian Arab Army in its battle against terrorism, affirming that they will spare no effort to contribute to consolidating stability and restoring security to the homeland.
