President Al-Assad to Chungong: Syria Adherent to Dialogue-Based Solution

DAMASCUS, (ST)-President Bashar Al-Assad has reiterated that the Syrian state is adherent to attaining a solution to the crisis in Syria based on dialogue and it will keep enhancing and expanding national reconciliations countrywide.

President Al-Assad’s remarks were made during his meeting today with Secretary General of the Inter- Parliamentary Union (IPU) Martin Chungong.

“The success of dialogue requires the continuity of fighting terrorism and putting pressure on the countries involved in supporting and arming the terrorists,” President Al-Assad said, pointing out that the IPU and its member parliaments can play an effective role in this respect.

“Getting acquainted with the reality of the problems facing our world today away from the political and media misinformation, which was and is still being practiced by some parties, can contribute to solving many problems caused by the absence or the weakness of communication among countries and their different institutions,” the president clarified.

On his part, Chungong stressed the IPU’s support for Syria in the confrontation of the terrorism which has become a global challenge that is not only threatening Syria and the region.

The guest official stressed that his visit was useful in terms of being briefed on the reality of events in Syria, asserting that he will work through the IPU to explain the image promoted about Syria events abroad and he will continue supporting all efforts aiming to find a way out of the crisis based on dialogue that helps the Syrians decide their future.
