President Al-Assad to Abdullahian: What the world is witnessing proves that issues we defended and paid a price for were correct and our policies were sound

President Bashar Al-Assad, during his meeting today with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdullahian and the accompanying delegation, affirmed that what the world is witnessing today proves that the issues that we defended and paid a price for were right ones and that our policies were sound.

The President noted that the international situation has become clearer due to the impact of developments and the changes taking place in the world and this enhances our confidence in the approach we are taking.

President Al-Assad discussed with Abdullahian bilateral relations, the situation in the region, and efforts related to the return of Syrian refugees to their country, in addition to the issue of Turkish withdrawal from Syrian territory and the inevitability of its occurrence as a necessary condition for the return of normal relations between Damascus and Ankara.

The President noted that the sound relationship between Iran and the Arab countries contributes to the stability and prosperity of the region.

For his part, the Iranian Foreign Minister stressed the need to

respect Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, stressing the importance of strengthening bilateral relations between Syria and

Iran, and his country’s keenness to implement the agreements signed during President Ebrahim Raisi’s visit to Syria.

The Iranian Foreign Minister had previously met with Dr. Faisal Mikdad and had held a press conference that covered points of mutual interest highlighting the challenges facing the two countries and the continuous aggressive policies of Washington and the West, especially using terrorism to achieve their political goals that are

well-known to all.
