Members of the delegation participating in the Fifth Syrian-Russian Joint Meeting for following-up the International Conference on the Return of Refugees and Displaced Persons conveyed to President Bashar al-Assad the results and outcomes reached during the joint meetings between the Syrian and Russian parties in terms of following up on the efforts, procedures and facilities taken for the return of refugees and displaced persons to their cities and villages, as well as in terms of developing and strengthening bilateral cooperation in various fields, whether at the governmental level or at the level of governorates and regions in the two countries.

The members of the delegation indicated that President Vladimir Putin attaches special importance to developing relations with Syria and developing cooperation with it, considering that the meetings of the Syrian and Russian ministerial coordination bodies give an opportunity to discuss prospects for future work and identify new areas of cooperation, noting that cooperation currently includes a wide range of vital areas, including industry, agriculture and electricity, in addition to culture, education and scientific research.

President al-Assad stressed the importance of follow-up mechanisms for the outcomes reached by ambassadors and officials in both countries, pointing to the importance of joint work in the cultural and educational aspects, because the biggest goal is to create integration at the popular level based on the rule that has existed since the past decades and is based on joint families, considering the conditions of the joint war on terrorism which will help the integration between the two peoples from the cultural and social point of view.

President al-Assad offered congratulations on the success of the referendums to include the Donbas region, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions in the Russian Federation, pointing out that the Syrian people are following the special military operation in Donbas in the same way they were following the battles against terrorists in Syria, because the war that Russia is waging is in favor of restoring international balance.
