President Al-Assad: The priority in humanitarian work should focus on improving the lives of Syrians

Damascus, (ST) – President Bashar Al-Assad discussed with the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross Peter Maurer the work of the Committee in Syria. They also discussed  cooperation between the Committee and the Syrian government on humanitarian responses in order to meet the needs of Syrians in the humanitarian and service sectors.

President Al-Assad considered that the priority in humanitarian work should focus on areas that help on improving the lives of Syrians in their areas and villages.

President Al-Assad also said that the humanitarian work should contribute in creating appropriate conditions for the return of refugees, such as rehabilitating the infrastructure of water and electricity networks.

Maurer expressed his appreciation for the existing coordination with the Syrian government to overcome the difficulties that may encounter the work of the committee in some areas and the facilities it provides for the success of its mission in the field of humanitarian work.
