President Al-Assad: The displacement of Christians from region is Israeli goal

DAMASCUS, March.20, (ST)- President Bashar Al-Assad met yesterday the representatives of the development, social and humanitarian institutions that took part in the congregation for the Oriental churches recently held in Syria.

The president affirmed that the importance of the doctrinal aspect is similar to that of the daily livelihood one, so the social and Church initiative of the  congregation conveyed several messages, most notably that the role of religious and social bodies  in Syria has not been limited to the religious side as they played a social and developmental role through offering help to all Syrians.

“Christian citizens in Syria  are not guests or passers-by. They are partners and the title of this partnership is work and production,” President Al-Assad said.

He added that the goal of developmental works is to keep social balance, asserting the importance of dialogue that was held during the conference.

Moreover, the president indicated that the displacement of Christians is one of the main goals of the foreign plans against the region, and it is mainly an Israeli goal because when the region is fragmented into sectarian states each one having a color, Israel will then be  part of the natural fabric . “ Preserving the fabric and the different identity of the region is a must and we have to defend it.”

Last Thursday, the congregation for the Oriental churches concluded its three-day activities that were held under the slogan “The Church is a House of Love.. A Common Journey” ،
