President Al-Assad: Terrorism is Part of Political Game Aiming to Weaken Countries with Independent Decision

DAMASCUS, (ST)-President Bashar Al-Assad has underscored that “terrorism is no longer a local phenomenon; it has become part of a political game aiming to hit and weaken countries which are adherent to their independence.

President Al-Assad was speaking to the Algerian Minister in Charge of Magharibi and African Affairs Abdul Qader al-Masahel in a meeting on Monday. He highly appreciated Algeria’s principled stance in support for Syria, stressing that the situation in the country is getting better and that the Syrian people will continue to be steadfast in defense of their land against terrorism.

 Talks during the meeting focused on the need to unify the efforts of all countries in the face of terrorism.

The Algerian minster reviewed with President Al-Assad the Algerian experience in confronting terrorism and extremism and in attaining national reconciliation. He affirmed his country’s solidarity with and support for the steadfastness of the Syrian people against the ongoing terrorist war targeting their state.

Talks also dealt with the importance of boosting Syrian-Algerian cooperation in all domains, particularly economy in the service of the peoples of the two countries.

Minister Masahel is the head of the Algerian side in the Syrian-Algerian mini committee for economic cooperation.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade Humam al-Jazaeri, Chairman of the International Cooperation and Planning Commission Qais Khuder and the Syrian Ambassador in Algeria.
