President al-Assad: Syrian People awareness of what is happening opens new doors for religious work to differentiate between destructive intolerance and true faith

DAMASCUS, (ST)_ President Bashar al-Assad received on Sunday a delegation representing, Muslim and Christian delegation participating in the annual general conference of the religious endowments ministry.

 

President al-Assad stressed that such meetings convey great meanings at the national and historical levels and reflect the strength and cohesion of the rich Syrian community in all its religious and ethnic components, as one of the main elements for the steadfastness of our country against the fierce ongoing war.

President al-Assad pointed out that the awareness of the Syrians of what is happening in Syria opens new doors for religious work in terms of differentiating between the destructive fanaticism and true faith which is based on essence of religions and principles of morality, amity,  cooperation and the culture of respecting others.

President al-Assad expressed appreciation for the important role played by men of religion in promoting national reconciliation and disseminating the culture of dialogue among all Syrians.

The participants expressed their confidence that Syria will remain a minaret of cultural and civilizational diversity through the insistence and adherence of the Syrians to their national unity and to fighting terrorism and rejecting obscurantist ideas.

Minister of Awqaf, Dr. Muhammad Abdul Sattar presented President al-Assad with the “virtue” project, on behalf of the participants in the annual General Conference of the Ministry of Awqaf, for consecration of moral values, which have been the main focus of the conference.
