President Al-Assad Stresses the war in Syria ends when terrorism ends

DAMASCUS, (ST)- President Bashar Al-Assad has stressed that Syria supports all efforts that aim at finding a solution to the crisis in Syria, “but some parties are trying to suggest that the solution to the war in Syria can be attained through the constitutional committee, which is not true.”

President Al-Assad made the remarks during his meeting on Thursday with Mojtaba Zonnour, Chairman of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission.

He said that “the war in the country hasn’t erupted because of dispute or division over the constitution, but because there is terrorism that has started to kill, terrorize and vandalize in Syria. “

“The war ends when terrorism ends,” the president reiterated.

Talks during the meeting dealt with the latest developments in the region. The two sides affirmed continuous coordination and cooperation in the fight against terrorism until it is completely eliminated in order to attain security and stability in all countries of the region. The talks also focused on boosting economic cooperation.

President Al-Assad emphasized that one of the most important elements of strength of the counter-terrorism axis is its adherence to firm principles.

“Our struggle and our allies’ struggle will continue in the confrontation of the West’s colonialist aspirations by hitting its agents and mercenaries who have started to be defeated in several places,” President Al-Assad said.

On his part, Zonnour hailed Syria’s gains in the war on terrorism, stressing that what links Iran and Syria is not only the tactical issues on the ground, but a joint honorable history and destiny.

He pointed out that the war Syria is facing is the same that Iran had experienced after its revolution, noting that Iran had won that war despite multiple fronts and Syria will also win the battle against terrorism and its enemies despite all the obstacles.
