President Al-Assad stresses the importance of correcting misconceptions about social, religious and moral issues

Damascus (ST) – President Bashar Al-Assad met with the volunteer team of the “Hewar Center for Virtual Education”, which comprises young academics in various specializations, engaging in dialogues in the religious, intellectual, and social fields.

The meeting discussed several topics such as extremism, identity, the role of institutions in society, protecting the generation and youth and the role of the religious institution in all of this.

President Al-Assad stressed the importance of working to correct misconceptions about social, religious and moral issues because they constitute the starting point for any successful work or initiative.

The president indicated that successful work is based on three interconnected levels: strategies, procedures and concepts, as strategies alone remain theory and procedures alone later turn into chaos, but when the concepts are defined, the vision is unified and integrated to create a successful work.

President Al-Assad stressed that the importance of dialogue in building society stems from the continuity and the development of the type of topics presented and identifying the targeted segments in society.

Regarding the identity crisis facing our societies, President Al-Assad explained that we have the correct reference, but colonial projects throughout history are what created the identity crisis in the Arab region, distorted its concept, and took our societies in only one direction, which is extremism, either in religion or ethnic affiliation.

“Identity is not just a religion or race, rather, it includes multiple aspects that complete each other.”

During the meeting, the team presented its vision on various issues, especially in working to build moderate thinking in society, promoting the culture of dialogue, and developing youth skills in strategies of persuasion, dialogue, and correcting concepts.
