The Lebanese researcher and writer Sami Kleib underscored that the minutes of the meeting held between President Bashar al-Assad and the former US. Secretary of State Colin Powell in 2003 was pivotal in the history of the region.
He indicated that the U.S. Administration has tried to change Syria’s stances and to break the axis of resistance and to close the Palestinian factions’ offices in Syria.
“The war being waged on Syria aims to destroy the axis of resistance in the region as the historical events paved the way for the eruption of the crisis in Syria,” Dr. Kleib said, adding that documents prove this.
He indicated that the so-called the ‘Arab Spring’ aims to destroy the key countries in the Arab-Israeli conflict, to distract Arab armies from their main causes, to abort the Palestinians’ right of return to their homeland and to transform the Arab countries into markets for selling weapons.
Foreign agendas
Add to that, the Lebanese researcher stressed that what is going on in Syria is linked to foreign agendas and it has nothing to do with internal reforms.
“Following the Israeli entity’s humiliating withdrawal from the south of Lebanon, the international community put pressures on Syria, which is one of the members of the axis of resistance, to end its role in the region,” Dr. Kleib affirmed.
He sees that Syria will achieve victory when the Syrians realize that what is happening in their country is against all of them.
The Lebanese writer pointed out that the Turkish policy towards Syria has not changed as the Erdogan regime seeks to achieve his dream of the Ottoman Empire in alliance with the Muslim brotherhood organization in the region.
“Erdogan has facilitated the flow of terrorists into Syria and the looting of its wealth and factories,” Dr. Kleib said during a lecture he gave yesterday in the Madinet al-Shabab (youths’ city) in Mazzeh district in Damascus.
The lecture was given in cooperation with the Damascus Center for Research and Studies (D.C.R.S).
The D.C.R.S. is an independent institute established in 2015. It focuses on regional and international affairs, future studies and researches in all fields.
