DAMASCUS COUNTRYSIDE- Member of Belgium’s Federal Parliament, MP Filip Dewinter, the head of the Belgian delegation currently visiting Syria, has stressed that the Syrian people are the victim of European sanctions and boycott, noting the need to work in order to lift these sanctions as to win the war against Daesh terrorist organization.
In a statement to SANA on Tuesday following the guest delegation’s visit to the Monastery of Mar Yakub in the Syrian town of Qara in Damascus Countryside, Dewinter said “the state of coexistence in Syria must continue and prevail”.
He added “the battle of President Bashar Al-Assad against terrorist organizations, particularly Daesh is, ours because we believe that these terror organizations are a common enemy so we must support President Al-Assad.”
Dewinter described the delegation’s meeting with President Al-Assad as affective, saying we found that President Al-Assad was a brave statesman who seeks building a diversity-rich Syria.
He said religious coexistence which exists in Syria can’t be found in Arab countries like Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar or other Arab countries, affirming the importance of inviting the European media outlets to visit Syria and know what is really going on in the county.
Concluding his statement, Dewinter hoped that he will be able to visit Syria again together with his family after Syria completely wins the battle against terrorism, because it a beautiful Middle East country.
