Beirut –Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said on Tuesday that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad reinstatement is part of political settlement for the crisis in Syria.
Amir-Abdollahian made the remarks in a meeting with United Nations Special Envoy for Syria, Staffan de Mistura.
The Iranian deputy foreign minister is currently on a visit to Beirut for talks with Lebanese officials.
Appreciating the efforts made by the UN envoy, Amir-Abdollahian underlined leadership of President Assad to find settlement to the crisis in Syria.
He said that the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to support peace and stability in the region.
‘All of us have to help Syria that is fighting the dangerous phenomenon of terrorism,’ Amir-Abdollahian said, underlining the key role of the United Nations in the campaign against terrorism.
Amir-Abdollahian noted that any solution to the crisisin Syria has to consider the public opinion of the Syrian people.
Meanwhile, the UN envoy said that countering terrorism is of special significance to the international community.
De Mistura said that Islamic Republic of Iran is one of the most influential countries in the region which can play a significant role in the region.
‘We pursue a political settlement to the humanitarian crisis with a special look at Syrian people,’ Amir-Abdollahian said.
