President Al-Assad Refers State Council Law to Supreme Constitutional Court

DAMASCUS, (ST)- President Bashar Al-Assad on Monday referred the law of the State Council, recently approved by the People’s Assembly, to the Supreme Constitutional Court to consider the constitutionality of some of its provisions and to ensure that they conform with the rules of Constitution and that they there are no gaps in them.

The Supreme Constitutional Court is in charge of judging the constitutionality of the laws, legislative decrees and regulations and of rendering opinion on the constitutionality and legality of bills, decrees and regulations under a request by the President of the republic.
