President Al-Assad receives UAE’s Foreign Minister

President Bashar Al -Assad on Wednesday received the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and the accompanying delegation.

Talks dealt with the regional and international developments, the distinguished relations between Syria and the UAE and the ways to enhance trade and economic cooperation to serve the interest of the peoples of both countries.

President Al- Assad stressed that the relations between Syria and the UAE are historical and deep-rooted, “so it is normal that these relations restore the depth which has distinguished them for decades and which has served the interests of the two countries as well as stability in the region”.

The president hailed the positive role being played by the UAE in the Arab region.

For his part, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed conveyed to President Al-Assad the greetings of Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and the greetings of the UAE’s Vice-President, Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashed Al Maktoum.

UAE stresses its support for Syria’s stability, sovereignty

He confirmed the UAE’s keenness on enhancing and expanding prospects of cooperation between the two countries and on continuous cooperation and coordination on all issues.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed affirmed his country’s support for Syria’s stability and sovereignty over all it territories, expressing confidence that the Syrian people will be able with their strong will to bring back development and prosperity to their country.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed arrived in Damascus today afternoon leading a delegation comprising a number of senior Emirati officials.
