DAMASCUS, (ST)_President Bashar Al-Assad received on Tuesday the UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the accompanying delegation.
The talks- during the meeting- dealt with bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries, the ways of developing bilateral cooperation in all fields for the common interest of Syria and the UAE and intensifying efforts to discover new horizons for cooperation in the field of investment.
The president referred to the strong brotherly relations between Syria and the UAE since the era of the late sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al-Nahyan.
He also talked about the firm and objective stances adopted by the UAE, asserting that the UAE has supported the people of Syria.
For his part, Sheikh Abdullah affirmed his country’s support for efforts being exerted to achieve stability in Syria, adding that what happened in Syria affected all Arab countries.
He went on to say that Syria under the leadership of President Bashar Al-Assad and with the efforts of its people is able to overcome the challenges that are imposed by the war.
“The UAE is always ready to support the people of Syria,” the minister said.
According to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), the situation at Arab and regional arenas was also on the table.
The two sides agreed on going ahead with consultation and coordination about different causes and challenges that face the Arab region with the aim of meeting the aspirations of peoples far away from foreign interventions.
The UAE foreign minister was accompanied by Mr. Khalifa Shahin, Minister of State at the UAE Foreign Ministry and Mr. Ali Mohammad Hammad al-Shamsi, Chairman of Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security.
