President Al-Assad receives Russian Minister of Defense

DAMASCUS, Feb.15, (ST)- President Bashar Al-Assad received on Tuesday the Russian Minister of Defense Sergey  Shoigu, who heads a high-level military delegation that are visiting Syria.  
 
The minister briefed president Al-Assad on exercises of the Russia’s Navy in the Tartus Port. 
 
According to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), the two sides discussed the cooperation between the Syrian and Russian armies, especially in the issue of fighting terrorism. 
 
Shoigu reiterated that his country will go ahead with cooperation with Syria in fighting terrorism until  the restoration of Syria’s sovereignty over all territories in spite of the attempts of the countries that support terrorism to reactivate terrorist groups after the losses they have suffered. 
 
“Russia will continue to help the Syrian people to overcome the effects of the unjust sanction and siege imposed on Syria,” the Russian minister affirmed. 
 
Today, the Russia’s Defense Ministry said that Tu-22M3 bombers and MiG-31K fighters carrying Kinzhal hypersonic missiles have deployed to Russia’s Hmeymim air base in Syria to participate in the Russian Navy’s Mediterranean maneuvers.
