President Bashar al-Assad on Thursday received a message from the Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shia’ al-Sudani conveyed by Faleh al-Fayyadh, head of the Popular Mobilization Authority in Iraq, in which the Iraqi premier extended his sincere condolences to President Al-Assad and to the Syrian people over the victims of the devastating earthquake.
Al-Fayyadh stressed that Iraq will continue to support the efforts of the Syrian government with all its capabilities to mitigate the repercussions of the earthquake on the Syrians.
Al-Fayyadh pointed out that the Iraqi people, in all their categories, hastened, since the first days of the disaster, to mobilize their potentials to provide all kinds of aid and relief to their brothers in the affected Syrian regions, and they continue to send this aid daily.
President Al-Assad praised Iraq’s positions on the official and popular levels, and the speed of response Iraq showed towards Syria, considering that the brotherly ties between the Syrian and Iraqi peoples, and the common challenges they faced at different stages made them always close to each other, and they exchanged support and assistance because they are fully aware that what befalls any of the two countries infects and affects the other country.
