President Al-Assad Receives Letter from Belarusian Counterpart

DAMASCUS, (ST)- President Bashar Al-Assad received a letter from his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko handed to His Excellency by the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Belarus Karpenko Igor Vasilievic during  a meeting on Sunday.

President Lukashenko affirmed his country’s full and firm support for Syria in its war on terrorism and expressed Belarus Keenness on enhancing the deep-rooted relations between the two countries.

 President Al-Assad highly appreciated the supportive stance of Belarus which was exposed in the past to huge pressure and western campaigns similar to those facing Syria, but it managed to keep steadfast and achieve victory.

“Syria’s ongoing war on terrorism and its supporters takes place in light of  the ongoing wider US-led war waged by the West and its tools and agents in the region as to destroy all the countries that resist western hegemony, adhere to the peoples’ interests and insist to keep having independent decision,” President Al-Assad said, pointing out that this US-led war aims to redraw a new map for the region and the world.

On his part,  Mr. Vasilievic said his country believes that all the countries that support the Syrian people need to unite their efforts against takfiri terrorism.

He expressed confidence that Syria will achieve victory over terrorism and restore security and stability countrywide.

The meeting was attended by Assistant Regional Secretary of the Baath Arab Socialist Party Hilal al-Hilal and the Belarusian Ambassador in Damascus.
