President Al-Assad receives Lebanese delegation visiting Syria to express solidarity after the earthquake

President Bashar Al-Assad on Wednesday received a Lebanese delegation led by the Lebanese Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates in the caretaker government Abdullah Bou Habib.

Members of the delegation conveyed to President Al-Assad the condolences of the Lebanese Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati and the all members of then government over the deadly earthquake that his Syria two days ago. They stressed that the visit aims at offering condolences and expressing readiness to provide assistance to the Syrian people, because “the Lebanese feel sad for what happened in Syria and believe that they must stand by the Syrian people in this ordeal”.

The delegation explained the measures taken by the Lebanese caretaker government with the aim of providing assistance in relief and rescue operations in coordination with the Syrian institutions that are working on the ground.

For his part, President Al-Assad thanked the Lebanese government for the practical steps taken to provide and facilitate aid deliveries to Syria, pointing out that these steps have been very effective on the ground and left a positive impression among the Syrians.

The president affirmed the importance of cooperation between Syria and Lebanese in all fields to serve the common interest.

The Lebanese delegation comprised Minister of Public Works and Transport, Minister of Agriculture, Head of the Higher Relief Commission, Secretary General of the Foreign Ministry and Director of the Arab Affairs Department at the ministry.
