President Bashar Al-Assad on Monday received Ali Asghar Khaji, Senior Assistant to the Iranian Foreign Minister for Political Affairs and the accompanying delegation. The two sides discussed issues of common interest to Syria and Iran, in addition to cooperation and consultation regionally and internationally and a joint vision in the light of recent developments and changes.
President al-Assad stressed the importance of coordination during the next stage , especially with regard to the “Quadrilateral meetings and the Astana process, noting the importance of working out a joint strategy that defines the foundations and clarifies accurately the headings and objectives on which the upcoming negotiations are based, whether they are regarding the Turkish withdrawal from the Syrian territories, the fight against terrorism, or other issues.
President Al-Assad also stressed the necessity of working out a schedule and mechanism for implementing these goals and in cooperation with the Russian and Iranian sides.
For his part, Khaji affirmed the correctness of the Syrian vision regarding various files that are being negotiated, expressing his country’s satisfaction with the developments of the Syrian foreign relations at the Arab level in particular, considering that this new phase would not have happened without Syria’s steadfastness and the sacrifices of its people in the face of terrorism.
