President Al-Assad Receives Congratulations from Venezuelan, Armenian Presidents on Syria’s Independence Day

DAMASCUS, (ST)-President Bashar Al-Assad continued on Monday to receive congratulations on Syria’s 71st Independence Day and this time from President Nicolas Maduro of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and from Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan.

On behalf of the Venezuelan government and people, President Maduro expressed his heartfelt congratulations to President Al-Assad and the Syrian people on this occasion, saying that “the Syrian people won independence 71 years ago and wrote down a page of victory in the history of struggle against western colonialism forces”. He added that the new colonialist empire is seeking today to divide Syria again as colonialism did more than seven decades ago, pointing out that the brave Syrian people are struggling against the west and its brutal schemes.

Maduro reiterated his country’s deep-rooted friendship with Syria and affirmed its solidarity with the country in struggle against imperialism.

On his part, President Sargsyan extended his most sincere congratulations and best wishes to President Al-Assad and to the Syrian People on this national occasion.

He stressed that the Armenian-Syrian cooperation based on a quarter a century old friendship will continue to be enhanced in future for the welfare of the two countries.

Sargsyan highly appreciated the Syrian government’s initiative on the Intra-Syrian dialogue aiming to solve the crisis in Syria through peaceful ways, expressing hope that the efforts of the Syrian people and the international community will succeed in attaining peace and stability in Syria.
