DAMASCUS, Jul.25, (ST)-President Bashar Al-Assad reviewed with the Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ramtane Lamamra the ways of cementing brotherly relations between Syria and Algeria that are based on principles, common values and historical stations which brought the two peoples and the two brotherly countries together.
Lamamra handed to President Al-Assad a message from the Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune regarding bilateral relations and the continuity of consultation and coordination between the two countries concerning the challenges facing the region, in addition to the ongoing preparations for the forthcoming Arab summit to be held in Algeria.
The president asked lamamra to convey his greetings and thanks to the Algerian leadership and people. for their loyalty to Syria.
He asserted that the Syrian people will never forget the stance of Algeria, which stood by their side in the war they are exposed to, and will always remember it as a brotherly country that adheres to its principles and Arabism.
The president affirmed Syria’s keenness to work with Algeria to open new horizons for cooperation between the two countries and to strengthen brotherly ties between the two peoples.
He in addition emphasized that the Arab League is the mirror of the Arab situation, and what is important to Syria is the formula, content and the outcomes of the joint Arab action because it is interested in the substance more than form, and it highly appreciates Algeria’s support for Syrian rights in all fields.
For his part, Lamamra said that Syria is an essential element in the Arab arena and a founding member of the Arab League, and that the Arab world needs Syria and not the other way around.
He added that Algeria will be with Syria and will coordinate with it in the Arab and international forums during its presidency of the summit as it has always been.
During the meeting, some proposals and formulas to improve joint Arab action at both the bilateral level or at the level of the Arab League, and to confront the issues and challenges, which are facing the Arabs were also discussed.
The Algerian minister stressed that his country is looking forward to developing bilateral cooperation with Syria in all fields and hopes that there will be an opportunity to hold the meetings of the Syrian-Algerian joint committee soon.
He referred to the fact that Algeria’s official stance towards Syria is fully consistent with the stance of the Algerian people, who have respect for the Syrian people and support their steadfastness in the face of the terrorist war and the unjust siege they are being subjected to.
