Damascus – President Bashar Al-Assad on Wednesday performed the blessed Eid Al-Adha prayer at Al-Afram Mosque in Al-Muhajireen neighborhood in Damascus.
Minister of Awqaf (Islamic Endowments), a number of state and party officials, several MPs, Islamic scholars and many citizens also performed the prayer along with the President.
The prayer was led by Imam Muhammad Tawfiq Ramadan Al-Bouti, President of the Levant Scholars’ Union.
In the Eid sermon, Sheikh Al- Bouti stressed the sublime meaning of Eid Al-Adha, saying “Eid Al-Adha this year is different from previous years as it heralds of a better future that carries hope in ending the long suffering of the Syrian people from different crises and ordeals that killed, displaced and impoverished many of them”.
He added that the Syrian people remained steadfast and insisted to continue rallying around their leadership to withstand these crises and and foil the conspiracies hatched against their homeland, urging all those who bet on the collapse of the homeland to realize and acknowledge that the Syrian people have decided to keep steadfast until they achieve complete victory.
Al- Bouti hailed the Arab rapprochement and the improvement of Syria’s ties with brotherly Arab countries, pointing out that this has been a major step that will hopefuly lead to ending the crisis in the country.
