Damascus – President Bashar al-Assad participated on Wednesday in a religious celebration, held by the Ministry of Islamic endowments, on the occasion of Prophet Mohammad’s birthday at al-Afram mosque in Damascus.
The president performed al-Isha prayers, led by Imam Adnan al-Afyouni, the Mufti of Damascus and its countryside, SANA reported.
Minister of Endowments Mohammad Abdul-Sattar Assayed said that Prophet Mohammad was sent for the good and mercy of humanity to enlighten the whole world.
He referred to the political and religious reforms that have been realized in Syria, affirming that the Syrian people have supported the Syrian Arab army in the war against terrorism, this support that gave birth to a great victory under the leadership of President Bashar al-Assad.
The celebration was concluded by a prayer for Sheikh al-Afyouni who supplicated God to keep Syria and its army safe.
