President Al-Assad, Mrs. Asma Al-Assad meet with members of the operations room in Aleppo

President Bashar Al-Assad and Mrs. Asma Al-Assad held a meeting with members of the operations room in Aleppo that is currently running the relief file in the areas affected by the earthquake that recently hit the country.

The meeting comes within the framework of President Al-Assad and his wife’s visit to Aleppo to inspect the conditions of those affected by the earthquake and the rescue operations in several areas of the province.

“We know how much the citizens in Aleppo love their city and this is a point of strength on which the State can rely on in its work during crises,” President Al-Assad said during the meeting.

“Government support will be of no value during these circumstances if it is not based on the local communities’ vision that basically identifies priorities of needs,” the president added.

President Al-Assad stressed the importance of systematic thinking so that within the coming days we can come up with a plan for the projects that will help Aleppo overcome the crisis and rise again after the earthquake.

He called for benefiting from the plans of recovery from the disaster in order to draw up development plans that serve the city, stressing the importance of putting a time schedule for implementation and accurately specifying the missions and responsibility of each participating side.

Fore her part, Mrs. Asma al-Assad said that the citizens in Aleppo have acquired great experience in dealing with crises following 12 years of harsh war on their city, so they are now able to deal with the earthquake disaster, stressing that she felt the true solidarity and cooperation among the residents of the city.

The Aleppo operation room comprises government bodies, organizations, civil society associations, trade and industrial parties assigned to run the relief file in the quake-affected areas in the city.
