President Al-Assad meets with the President of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union, the Speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives and the Speaker of the UAE Federal National Council

During his meeting today with the President of the Arab Parliamentary Union and Speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, Muhammad al-HalbousiPresident Bashar al-Assad stressed the fraternal relations between Syria and Iraq

President Bashar al-Assad pointed out that the geographical and popular extension between the two countries makes the two peoples live similar challenges and share common interests

President Bashar al-Assad expressed his appreciation for the visit of the Parliamentary Union delegation to Syria today, because it represents the pulse and originality of the Arab masses, and reflects a state of Arab popular consensus. 

For his part, Al-Halbousi affirmed that the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union will spare no effort to restore the influential and active role of Syria in the Arab arena

Al-Halbousi indicated that Iraq will continue to provide all possible assistance to support the efforts of the Syrian government in providing relief to those affected by the earthquake. 

President Bashar al-Assad also met with the Speaker of the Federal National Council in the United Arab Emirates, Saqr Ghabash, and members of the UAE parliamentary delegation participating in the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union conference. 

Ghabash and the Emirati members affirmed that their visit to Syria is to convey the love of the Emirati people for Syria, and to express their feelings about the suffering of the Syrian people as a result of the devastating earthquake

For his part, President Bashar al-Assad drew attention to the position of the United Arab Emirates and its great support for the Syrian people by sending rescue teams and various types of aid and equipment necessary for rescue and relief.

During the meeting, they also talked about the importance of intensifying work at the parliamentary level in Syria and the UAE in order to serve the strengthening of bilateral relations between the two countries
