President Al-Assad meets with members of the Supreme Committee for supervising the elections of the Baath Party Central Committee

President Bashar Al-Assad, Secretary-General of the Baath Arab Socialist Party, has stressed that the Supreme Committee for Supervising the Baath Party Elections should be independent and absolutely impartial in performing its mission during all stages of the electoral process, whether in the preparation stage or during the elections until reaching the results.

During his meeting with the members of the committee, the Secretary-General of the Baath Party confirmed that the role of the committee is to take electoral procedures in accordance with the standards and foundations approved by the party’s central committee, which reflects the expectations of the party’s cadres and members.

The Secretary-General stressed that the Election Commission must not allow any person or entity to interfere in its work or exert pressure on it, and the primary goal is the integrity and transparency of party elections and that they reflect a true representation of the popular base of the Baath Party.

He added that the elections, with their positives and negatives, are the best way to choose party leaders capable of assuming their responsibilities towards the party and its cadres, but what is most important in the election experience is achieving fair opportunities for all candidates.

The Secretary-General considered that the Supreme Election Supervision Committee is one of the tools for developing party work and preserving and strengthening the electoral process, so that the election results will be the basis for the progress of the Baath Party and the development of its national role.

The Secretary-General added that the essence of the Supreme Committee’s mission is to ensure transparent performance in party elections and complete and strict adherence to the decisions of the party’s last Central Committee meeting to prevent any electoral violations.
