President Al-Assad: Key Role Played by Russia Contributes to Mapping out New World Multi-Polar System

 DAMASCUS, (ST)- President Bashar Al-Assad has highly appreciated Russia’s firm supportive stances towards Syria and expressed satisfaction over the level of cooperation and coordination between the two friendly countries.

During a meeting Wednesday with the delegation of the Imperial Orthodox Palestinian Society in Russia led by its Chairman Sergei Stepashin, President Al-Assad stressed that the role being played by Russia in the international arena contributes evidently to mapping out a multi-polar system in the world that attains international justice and serves the interests of the countries and peoples who adhere to their sovereignty and independent decision.

Stepashin conveyed to President Al-Assad a message from President Vladimir Putin of Russia in which the Russian President affirmed his country’s full support for the Syrian people’s steadfastness in the confrontation of the Western and regionally-backed international terrorism targeting their country.

“The Syrian people have no choice but to win victory in their war on terrorism and on the extremist thinking, which is too strange to our society, through keeping adherent to the diversity, moderation, and intellectual enlightenment which have distinguished this society over centuries,” President Al-Assad reiterated.

Stepashin, for his part, asserted his country’s condemnation of the armed terrorist groups’ acts of killing and terrorism which target the different components of the Syrian people, pointing to latest terrorist aggression on the Syrian town of Kessab.

He pointed out that the society he leads is raising funds to send humanitarian aid to the people of Kessab.

In a recent meeting with a Russian parliamentary delegation, President Al-Assad hailed Russia’s support for Syria and stressed that “Washington and countries of the West don’t seek real partnerships. They want puppet states which are ready to implement their dictates.”
