President Al-Assad issues legislative decree granting general amnesty for the crimes and violations committed Before September 22, 2024

Damascus (ST)- President Bashar al-Assad on Sunday issued Legislative Decree No. (27) for the year 2024, which includes granting general amnesty for crimes and violations committed before September 22nd,  2024.

 The decree provides for general amnesty for the full penalty for the perpetrators of internal and external military desertion crimes stipulated in the Military Penal Code. The provisions of this decree don’t involve those who are hiding from justice unless they turn themselves over to authorities within three months in the case of internal desertion, and four months in the case of external desertion.

The decree also included general amnesty for all penalties for misdemeanors and breaches, except for some misdemeanors that constitute a serious assault on society and the state, as well as for bribery, some misdemeanors of forgery, attacks on public morals and some types of theft
