President Al-Assad issues Law No. (1) for 2024 that provides for organizing the work of the National Union of Syrian Students

President Bashar Al-Assad on Saturday issued Law No. (1) for the year 2024 which provides for organizing the work of the National Union of Syrian Students as a student organization which enjoys legal personality as well as financial and administrative independence.

The law sets the missions, goals and organizational structure of the Union and calls on the union to hold its activities within an institutional environment through which students can express their opinions and participate in decision making in a way that serve the educational process and achieves the students’ interests in the academic achievement and in a way that goes in harmony with the development of the higher education system.

Head of the National Union of Syrian Students Dareen Suleiman hails the law as important for developing and supporting the educational process.

She said that the law was issued following intensive dialogue and discussions among students with the aim of improving the situation of students an education in the country.

According to Suleiman, the law provides an institutional and organizational environment through which students can express their opinions and talk about the problems they face in their student life.
