President al-Assad issues decree No.51
Damascus, (ST)- President Bashar al-Assad on Tuesday issued legislative decree No. 51 for the year 2013 .
The decree provides for establishing (al-Zakat) and charity fund at the Ministry of Awqaf (religious endowments) with financial and administrative independence.
The fund eyes fair distribution of al-Zakat to the beneficiaries according to the bases of the Islamic Sharia in order to achieve an inclusive and cohesive society.
It is worth noting that the fund is exempted from different kinds of taxes and fees.
” the Fund provides the right channels for many people who want to donate money for charity,” Minister of Awqaf, Mohammad Abdul-Sattar al-Sayyed was quoted as saying by local media.
“undoubtedly the Fund will give the helping hand to needy people, including orphans, patients ,poor , elderly people and contribute to finding job opportunities and establishing development projects to create public benefit according to the Islamic law, “underscored al-Sayyed.
