President Al-Assad Issues Decree Tasking Emad Khamis with Forming New Government

DAMASCUS, (ST)- President Bashar Al-Assad  on Wednesday issued decree No. 187 for 2016 tasking Eamd Mohammed Deib Khamis, Minister of Electricity in the caretaker government, with forming the new government of the Syrian Arab Republic.

Khamis was born in Damascus Countryside in 1961. He earned a degree in electrical engineering and a master degree in the domain of energy from the University of Damascus in 1984.

 Khamis was assigned to the management of a number of departments in the General Company for Electricity in Damascus province from 1987 to 2005. He became the Director General of the General Company for Electricity in Damascus from 2005 to 2008 and the General Director of the General Establishment for the Distribution and Investment of Electrical Power from 2008 to 2011.

Khamis was appointed as Minister of Electricity in 2011.

He has been member of the Regional Leadership of the Baath Arab Socialist Party since 2013.

 He is married with 3 children.
