President Al-Assad hails China’s growing balanced role in the world

Damascus -President Bashar Al-Assad has stressed that the most important positive change that occurred globally is embodied in the Chinese role which has been growing in a quiet and balanced way, affirming that this role has provided a new example to follow in politics, economy and culture, particularly as it is based on the principle of achieving stability, peace and profits for all.

The president made the remarks during his meeting on Saturday with the Special Envoy of the Chinese Government on the Middle East issue Zhai Jun and the accompanying delegation.

The meeting between President Al-Assad and Zhai Jun didn’t focus on the Syrian-Chinese relations only; rather it focused on the joint vision on these relations as part of China’s relation with the Middle East countries. It also focused on China’s key role in the region in general.

“Today, the entire world needs the Chinese political and economic role to restore balance to the situation in the world, particularly in the light of the distinguished Russian-Chinese relations and of the BRICS alliance which constitutes a strong international bloc that is capable to create a multi-polar world order,” President Al-Assad said.

President Al-Assad also hailed China’s mediating role that helped achieve rapprochement between Iran and Saudi Arabia, pointing out that this rapprochement will reflect positively on stability in the entire Middle East.

President Al-Assad emphasized the importance of China’s “Belt and Road” Initiative in achieving development and economic cooperation, pointing out that as long as the confrontation in the world is primarily economic, freedom from from the dominance of the US dollar has been a necessity. He stressed that countries of the BRICS can play a leading role in this regard and also the Chinese Yuan can be adopted in trade activities.

The president affirmed that Syria doesn’t forget China’s support during the battle to defend Syria’s sovereignty and it highly appreciates Beijing’s humanitarian assistance in the aftermath of the earthquake.

For his part, the Chinese envoy conveyed to President Al-Assad the greetings of President Xi Jinping and his keenness on boosting bilateral relations. He affirmed that China views its relations with Syria from a strategic perspective and within a comprehensive vision that involves the region as a whole.

Zhai Jun expressed his country’s satisfaction over the victory achieved by the Syrian people in their battle against terrorism, as it is a victory for the countries that defend their sovereignty and dignity. He reiterated Beijing’s support for Syria in international forums, in word and deeds, in defense of justice and truth.

The Chinese envoy reaffirmed China’s support for Syria’s battle against hegemony, terrorism and foreign interference and its support for the positive development in the rapprochement between Syria and Arab countries.
