President Al-Assad grants Czech’s Ambassador the Syrian Order of Merit of Excellent degree

DAMASCUS, Oct.24, (ST)-Today, President Bashar Al-Assad granted Ambassador of Czech Republic in Damascus Eva Filipi the Syrian Order of Merit of the Excellent degree in appreciation for her efforts in developing and boosting relations between Syria and the Czech Republic.

“President al-Assad said that Ambassador Filipi be given the Syrian Order of Merit in appreciation for her achievements, during her career in Syria, that was in the interests of both peoples,” said the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Faisal Al-Miqdad, who awarded the Ambassador the Order of Merit in a Farwell ceremony.

Al-Miqdad hailed the Czech Republic’s stance that kept its embassy in Damascus open during the terrorist war waged on Syria, saying that Mrs. Filipi has encouraged her government to provide Syria with whatever possible humanitarian aid.

Ambassador Filipi, who ended her mission as Ambassador of her country to Syria, thanked President Al-Assad for that honor, appreciating the Foreign Ministry and the Syrian people for their cooperation to accomplish her duties in the country.

She also reviewed the stages of development of Czech-Syrian relations over the past years, saying that in 2016 a bilateral program for humanitarian and development aid was established, and it continues to this day, in addition to the implementation of 126 projects, especially in the fields of drinking water and health care.

The ambassador indicated that Czech companies are now carrying out a project in the eastern Ghouta of Damascus to provide drinking water to more than 35,000 people.
