President al-Assad during his meeting with Li Qiang in Beijing: Heading east is a political, cultural and economic guarantee for Syria

Beijing (ST): President Bashar al-Assad confirmed that Syria today is more committed to heading east because it is the political, cultural and economic guarantee for it, and this is a principle in Syrian politics.

President al-Assad indicated during his meeting today with Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang in the Chinese capital, Beijing, that the friendship and trust between Syria and China is built on a similar history and stable principles, and these principles are the same ones from which we can move toward the future.

President al-Assad said that the relationship between the two countries could be further strengthened  through the three initiatives proposed by President Xi Jinping to develop cooperation in the economic and cultural fields and create joint investment projects within the Belt and Road Initiative, pointing out that most countries in the world are looking forward to the Chinese currency the Yuan to become an international currency, especially since the Western weapon against the countries of the world is the dollar.

President Al-Assad thanked the Chinese government for its support of Syria in its war on terrorism and in confronting the disaster caused by the earthquake.

Fore his part, the Chinese Prime Minister said that facts have proved that Syria and China are friends and the world today is far from security and stability, and at this crucial stage “we need more cooperation and coordination in a way that preserves the common interests of Syria and china”. He stressed China’s continued support for Syria to achieve common development between the two countries.

“Development in Syria faces sanctions and siege, so China is keen to seize the opportunity to announce the establishment of strategic relations during the meeting between the presidents Bashar Al Assad and Xi Jinping, to provide support for Syria and transform the Syrian geographical advantages into development opportunities and to provide support for reconstruction and for the consolidation of stability”, the Chinese Premier clarified, announcing that China welcomes Syria as a partner in the Belt and Road Initiative.

“Friendship is a tree whose roots are loyalty and whose branches are kindness, and Your Excellency is a dear and old friend of the Chinese people” Li Qiang said to President Al-Assad.
