President Al-Assad Discusses with Bokhari Need to Adopt Principled Stance on Terrorism Fighting

DAMASCUS, (ST)-President Bashar Al-Assad Tuesday morning received Chairman of the Pakistani Senate and head of the Asian Parliamentary Society Syed Nayyer Hussain Bokhari and the accompanying delegation.

Issues of common interest to both Syria and Pakistan, mainly the issue of fighting all forms of terrorism and the need to adopt an evident principled stance on terrorism fighting by all countries of the world, were the focus of the meeting.

Talks also stressed that the international community should live up to its responsibilities through collective action as to eliminate terrorism, which poses serious threat to the entire world, without violating countries sovereignty or undermining people’s right to self determination away from any foreign interference.

President Al-Assad asserted the importance of parliamentary cooperation among countries, because “parliaments represent peoples and work to achieve their interests.”

H.E. President Al-Assad affirmed to Bokhari Syria’s support for his efforts to enhance parliamentary work and to turn the Asian Parliamentary Society, he is currently presiding over, into an Asian parliament that is able to cooperate with other parliaments on joint action to attain lasting solutions to regional and international issues.

Bokhari expressed confidence that the step of forming an Asian parliament will help achieve positive results in all aspects that serve the peoples of the Asian Continent.

He hoped that peace and stability will be restored to Syria as soon as possible.
